A Place For Mom Announces "Rest And Recharge Caregiver Vacation" Contest
SEATTLE, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A Place for Mom® (APFM), the nation's largest senior living referral service, has announced "Rest and Recharge Caregiver Vacation," a contest to recognize female caregivers across the country. One winner will be awarded a fully paid camp tuition for the summer session at Camp Reveille, Joan Lunden's unique retreat for women, located on Long Lake in Naples, Maine.
With over 65 million caregiving Americans, the award is being offered to celebrate the value of a caregiver's role with a vacation of relaxation and rejuvenation. Open to any female who is currently serving as a caregiver to an aging loved one, applicants will be asked to submit a letter of introduction along with a short essay describing why they, or someone they know, deserve the prize. They will also be asked to document their experience at Camp Reveille on A Place for Mom's blog.
"To be the best we can be in today's busy world, it's important that we take care of ourselves," said Joan Lunden, family caregiving advocate, award-winning journalist and longest running host of Good Morning America. "This contest from A Place for Mom offers a great opportunity for a caregiver to join me at Camp Reveille for some much-deserved 'me time.' Whether that's to relax and unwind, recharge a focus on fitness or simply play like a kid, I'll be there every step of the way!"
Camp Reveille was started by Joan Lunden in 2007, offering multi-tasking women a haven to feel energized and inspired in an exhilarating and serene environment. Covering four days and three nights, camp attendees are met with a host of activities and programs such as yoga, tennis, arts and crafts, dance classes and meditation.A longtime health and wellness advocate, Joan Lunden has partnered with A Place for Mom since January 2012 to help families navigate the complex process of finding appropriate senior housing and care options for aging loved ones. Recently, Lunden visited A Place for Mom's headquarters in Seattle to discuss the importance of caregiving and highlight the value a Senior Living Advisor brings to the search process. As a caregiver herself, Lunden brings a meaningful view and valuable insights to her role as spokesperson, helping to educate and prepare families for the transition into senior housing and care.
