ORLANDO, Fla., June 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Radware ® (Nasdaq:RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers announces it will introduce DefenseFlow™, a software product that utilizes the Cisco eXtensible Network Controller (XNC) and employs SDN technologies to provide DoS & DDoS protection as a native network service.
It will demonstrate this capability during Cisco Live, Cisco's annual IT and communications conference in Orlando, Florida, June 23 – 27, 2013.
With the Cisco XNC, Radware composed a native SDN solution driven by DefenseFlow™ SDN application to offer comprehensive and cost-effective protection against emerging DDoS attack campaigns in Cisco SDN-enabled networks.DefenseFlow™ is an SDN application that programs SDN-enabled networks to become part of the DDoS protection service itself, enabling operators to assign a DoS protection service per virtual network segment or per customer. It relies on the following components: Cisco XNC; Cisco switches and routers that are onePK and OpenFlow enabled; and Radware's DefenseFlow™ anti-DoS SDN application and DefensePro ® attack mitigation solution. The result is complete abstraction of the Anti-DoS resource provisioning and alignment with network operations to provision, manage and monitor DoS protection as a service within the OpenFlow ecosystem. "With Radware's DefenseFlow™, we can revolutionize the way security services are implemented and managed," says Avi Chesla, chief technology officer, Radware. "By using the programmability of SDN technologies to collect statistics, analyze the information and control the infrastructure layer to proactively defend against DoS & DDoS network flood attacks, we transform point security solutions into highly scalable network services that are easy to provision and offer tremendous cost reduction." Cisco ONE is delivered through a comprehensive set of platform APIs, agents and controllers and overlay network technologies. Cisco's eXtensible Network Controller is a key element within the Open Network Environment SDN strategy. Cisco XNC complements current approaches to emerging technologies like software-defined networking by offering the tools to help networks become more open, programmable and application-aware.
