Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading cloud provider of people management solutions, announced today that Amica Mutual Insurance Co., a national writer of automobile, homeowners, marine, and liability insurance, has selected the UltiPro solution to streamline its processes for human capital management (HCM).
Amica, founded in 1907, employs approximately 3,200 people in 40 offices across the U.S. The insurance company has been using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to handle its HR, payroll, and benefits, and found that the system required extensive maintenance while lacking the configurability Amica wanted in order to rapidly make HCM changes. After an extensive evaluation of HCM platforms, company executives selected UltiPro in December 2012 because of the broad spectrum of HR, payroll, and talent management capabilities; solution flexibility; and cloud-based HCM technology.
“UltiPro fit perfectly into Amica’s plans of having an easy-to-use, easy-to-manage HCM solution—and one that we no longer have to manage or maintain internally,” said Richard Bouthillette, HRIS director at Amica Mutual Insurance Co. “We are looking forward to spending far less time on upgrades and much more time on our people management processes.”
With Ultimate Software’s cloud technology, Amica will be able to take advantage the latest HR, payroll, benefits, and talent features without needing to rely on internal IT resources. Additional business benefits by using Ultimate’s cloud connectivity include improved efficiency; built-in capabilities for disaster recovery and business continuity; 24-7 direct access for administrators, managers, executives, and employees; and fast deployment of new UltiPro functionality. Ultimate began delivering the UltiPro solution via the cloud in 2002 and today has more than 10 million people records in the cloud.“The upgrades we experienced with the ERP we previously used always have been a lengthy, staff-intensive process for us, and we did most, if not all, of the work using our internal resources. We almost never could take advantage of new functionality because all of our time was spent just making sure that the upgraded software was working properly,” said Bouthillette. “With UltiPro, we will need a fraction of the resources that our previous system required, and we are eager to leverage all the features available to us through UltiPro to bring more benefits to our employees and our business.” “Without question, on-premise software requires substantially larger investments of time and resources for ongoing maintenance and upgrades. Ultimate’s cloud technology allows us to deliver enhancements to our customers much more rapidly than through traditional, on-premise HCM systems and makes it easier for customers to take advantage of innovations in HCM technology,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software. “We’re very pleased to welcome Amica Mutual Insurance to Ultimate’s expanding circle of customers who enjoy the business advantages that HCM in the cloud delivers.” About Amica Insurance Amica Mutual Insurance Co., the oldest mutual insurer of automobiles in the U.S., was founded in 1907.
