Rite Aid Introduces Wellness65+ For Seniors

Stocks in this article: RAD

Rite Aid announced today the launch of wellness65+, the latest extension of its highly successful, free customer loyalty program, wellness+. Developed to help Rite Aid meet the health and wellness needs of seniors, one of the fastest-growing and largest populations in the United States, wellness65+ will benefit those seniors who make Rite Aid their drugstore of choice. Qualifying customers can enroll for free at any Rite Aid or online at www.riteaid.com.

“Attracting new senior customers represents a key growth opportunity for Rite Aid because seniors tend to be our best pharmacy patients,” said Ken Martindale, Rite Aid Chief Operating Officer. “In addition, growing its senior patient base gives Rite Aid the opportunity to offer pharmacy services – such as immunizations and medication therapy management services – to a segment of the population that stands to benefit the most from the positive health outcomes these services provide.”

Now in stores nationwide, Rite Aid customers 65 and older who enroll in the program will be automatically eligible for an expanded wellness65+ pharmacist consultation, during which seniors can bring in their current medications for a thorough review by a Rite Aid pharmacist, who can also discuss their immunization needs. Patients can also take advantage of a blood pressure screening and have the opportunity to ask questions about Medicare Part D.

In addition, members of wellness65+ will also enjoy the same rewards and benefits that have made wellness+ so popular among Rite Aid customers. Benefits include exclusive sale pricing, +UP Rewards, 24/7 access to a Rite Aid pharmacist online or by phone, and the opportunity to earn points toward becoming a gold, silver or bronze member. Complete details on Rite Aid’s free customer rewards program wellness+ are available at www.riteaid.com.

Rite Aid will also launch wellness65+ Wednesday, a unique benefit available only to wellness65+ members, which will be held the first Wednesday of each month at every Rite Aid store nationwide. On these days, all wellness65+ members will receive 20 percent off all qualifying purchases. In addition, each wellness65+ Wednesday will feature wellness activities, such as free health screenings, valuable health information and other special offers. Rite Aid will hold its first wellness65+ Wednesday event chainwide on July 3.

Also, in conjunction with the launch of wellness65+, all wellness+ members will now be able to earn one point for every dollar they spend on co-payments for prescriptions supported by government funded programs (except in New York and New Jersey) up to a maximum of 25 points per prescription. This is a key benefit for the many seniors who fill prescriptions through Medicare Part D.

On July 8, Rite Aid will kickoff a nine-month, nationwide mobile tour in support of wellness65+. The tour will visit more than 30 key Rite Aid markets and partner with local businesses to host special community wellness events for seniors and their families. These events, designed with seniors in mind, will include free health screenings, pharmacist consultations and local experts in the fields of fitness, finance, legal and technology. Visit www.facebook.com/riteaid starting July 7 to see where Rite Aid will be visiting and when.

Rite Aid will also launch a multi-channel national advertising campaign on June 30 in support of wellness65+. Information about the new program will be shared on television and radio, in-store and circulars and through Rite Aid’s social media channels.

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) is one of the nation’s leading drugstore chains with more than 4,600 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia and fiscal 2013 annual revenues of $25.4 billion. Information about Rite Aid, including corporate background and press releases, is available through the company’s website at www.riteaid.com
