CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PARIS AIR SHOW -- UTC Aerospace Systems and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) have signed a letter of intent whereby UTC Aerospace Systems will supply the Passenger Door Damper & Emergency Opening Actuation System (EPAS) for the new C919 jetliner. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

"The C919 will benefit from the latest technology on (EPAS), which increases reliability while ensuring a high level of performance at a lower weight."
COMAC previously selected UTC Aerospace Systems to provide cockpit control systems, fire and overheat protection systems, throttle control quadrant, and lighting and sensing equipment for the narrow-body C919.
In addition, AVIC Electromechanical Company Limited (AVIC EM) and UTC Aerospace Systems have formed a joint venture company to develop and manufacture the electric power system for the C919. AVIC EM is a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).Headquartered in Shanghai, COMAC is a Chinese state-owned company that develops commercial aircraft and the current programs include ARJ21, a new turbofan short and medium range regional jet and C919, a narrow-body passenger aircraft. The C919 is a planned family of 168-190 seat airliners to be built by COMAC. It will be the first large commercial airliner designed and built in China.
