, today received approval from the State Board of Education to open its first new online public school. The new online school, Colorado Preparatory Academy, is set to launch next year and is open to all students in grades K-12 across the state.
The school will use the award winning curriculum and academic programs provided by K12 Inc. (NYSE: LRN), a leading national provider of digital learning content and online and blended school programs.

CD BOCES was formed by two
school districts, Falcon District 49 and
School District 1, to focus exclusively on digital learning school models and provide comprehensive support, oversight and accountability for online and blended schools. As an authorizer, CD BOCES has the capacity to promote high standards and performance, research and evaluation, and provide a collaborative and interconnected environment to help accelerate student achievement. The CD BOCES leadership team includes educators and digital learning experts with years of experience and success operating online and blended learning schools.

Colorado Preparatory Academy will use the curriculum, technology and school services provided by K12 Inc., a national leader in online education and individualized learning for students in kindergarten through high school. Highly qualified and
-certified teachers will provide instruction, intervention, guidance and support to students, and regularly communicate with families.
Under CD BOCES, Colorado Preparatory Academy will promote active engagement for all students using a team teaching model of certified teachers and paraprofessionals. In addition to developing Individualized Learning Plans for all students, the school will provide instructional interventions for underperforming and accelerated students, multiple opportunities for parent-teacher conferences, face-to-face online and blended instruction, and training for parents and students. The school will also foster a vibrant school community through numerous academic and social events, clubs, and extra-curricular activities.
