joint project involving Global Reach and Ruckus, which provides high-speed wireless services to users along the River Thames, was recognised by the Global Telecoms Business judges as an outstanding project that delivers smarter, high capacity Wi-Fi to users.
Global Reach has deployed their advanced Policy Management software solution together with carrier-grade Ruckus
Smart Wi-Fi ZoneFlex™ products for its hotspot infrastructure
, along 27 miles of the River Thames and onboard Thames Clippers London River Ferries
, to support more than 30 million people accessing the river each year. The Global Reach network operation centers provide centralised administration and remote management of the Wi-Fi service. The project addresses the explosive demand for reliable, high-speed data access in densely trafficked areas around the city, providing one of the world's largest outdoor mesh networks along a key transport route through the UK's capital.
British Telecommunications plc (BT) and the Transport for
London (TFL) authority have already begun using the Wi-Fi infrastructure.
