Daughters help moms see their own beauty this Mother's Day
TORONTO, May 12, 2013 /CNW/ - In time for Mother's Day, Dove has invited moms and daughters to explore self-esteem issues and to take part in a new version of its compelling social experiment that was documented in the recent Dove Real Beauty Sketches film.
Since its debut, Dove Real Beauty Sketches has become an international phenomenon, reaching more than 100 million people with the message that 'you are more beautiful than you think'. Inspired by its success in touching women worldwide, Dove has recreated this compelling social experiment just for moms with a new approach that now lets them see their beauty through the eyes of someone they love.
In collaboration with Google+ Hangouts and Gil Zamora, the FBI-trained forensic artist featured in the original Dove Real Beauty Sketches film, Dove Canada invited three Canadian moms and their daughters to participate in a unique interactive experience. Zamora interviewed the Canadian moms and daughters remotely from San Francisco using Google+ Hangouts. Each of the moms was asked to describe her appearance through an interview similar to the one documented in Dove Real Beauty Sketches. Each of the daughters was then separately asked to describe her mom.The resulting portraits, created by Zamora, reveal how daughters are able to see the full beauty in their moms in a way that their moms can't see themselves. Neither the moms nor their daughters knew that they were taking part in a social experiment. The entire experiment, captured on film both in San Francisco and in Toronto, where the moms were interviewed, was released today on www.youtube.com/DoveCanada so that moms and daughters everywhere can experience it together. It is the first time that Google+ Hangouts has been used by a brand in Canada to create this kind of interactive experience.
