Armando Gonzalez Elected Lifetime Trustee Of Huntington Memorial Hospital

PASADENA, Calif., April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Armando L. Gonzalez, FAIA, current board member of Huntington Memorial Hospital and founding principal of Gonzalez Goodale Architects in Pasadena, has been elected a lifetime trustee of the Huntington Trust, effective immediately.

In this role, Gonzalez joins a five-member board of trustees that governs the Collis P. and Howard Huntington Memorial Hospital Trust, established in the early 1930's to support The Pasadena Hospital Association, dba Huntington Hospital.  These five individuals are also members of the hospital's board of directors, which governs the hospital and its operations.

"Armando's extensive experience in healthcare governance is an incredible asset to the hospital and our community as the industry goes through considerable change in the wake of healthcare reform," said Jim Rothenberg, chairman of the board. "Most important, Armando has a strong love for our community and for the not-for-profit mission that is at the heart of the patient experience at Huntington Hospital. We are excited to have him serve in this important role as we navigate these challenging and demanding times."

In addition to his role at Huntington Hospital, Gonzalez has served on the boards of Queen of the Valley Hospital and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital and is a past Chair of the board of Citrus Valley Health Partners for which he was awarded "Trustee of the Year" by the Healthcare Association of Southern California. In addition, he formerly served as secretary of the board of trustees of the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems and was a member of the governance committee of the Hospital Council of Southern California.

Locally, Gonzalez is a former Chair of the city of Pasadena Community Development Commission where he was a driving force behind the economic, social and cultural renaissance of Old Pasadena. He has also served the city as a member of the mayor's Capital Improvement Projects committee, the mayor's City Center Urban Planning Implementation task force and the city manager's Economic Development task force.  In addition, Gonzalez has been active with a variety of local nonprofit organizations and was a principal organizer of the Pasadena Community Job Center for day laborers. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the board of directors of the Flintridge Center and is a board member for Caltech Associates and for Centro Latino for Literacy. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California and in 2003 was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.

Huntington Memorial Hospital is a 625-bed not-for-profit hospital that is home to the only Level II trauma center in the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to being granted Magnet ® status in 2011, Huntington Hospital has been ranked nationally by U.S. News and World Report in two specialties and was named the eighth best hospital in California. Renowned for its programs in neurosciences, cardiovascular services and cancer care, Huntington Hospital is an active teaching hospital with graduate medical education programs in internal medicine and general surgery. Consistent with its mission the hospital provides millions of dollars annually in charity care, benefits for vulnerable populations, health research, education and training, and support programs that may otherwise be absent from the community.
