Christina Kull Martens has been honored by the county of
Los Angeles with its Chair's Green Leadership Award. The annual award recognizes the outstanding efforts of individuals who have improved environmental sustainability for the benefit of their community.

Martens, a manufacturing integration manager for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, is responsible for identifying greenhouse gas emission reductions in the sector's manufacturing projects. She also implements training, development and new processes.
"In addition to her many environmental initiatives at the company, Christina has been a wonderful advocate for our logistics fleet team and has been instrumental in helping replace our fleet with hybrid and clean diesel vehicles," said
Bruce Gains, Northrop Grumman fleet manager, who nominated Martens for the award. "This award reflects her enthusiasm for corporate and community environmental sustainability."
Martens has served as an environmental engineer at Northrop Grumman since 2007. She has developed award-winning employee sustainability teams that have been honored by the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition and the West Basin Water District.
Martens has supported initiatives in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, waste reduction and recycling, energy conservation, air quality compliance, employee engagement with environmental initiatives, corporate social responsibility reporting, and energy efficiency identification and implementation.
Martens serves on the boards for the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition and the California Conservation Corps Greening.
Martens earned bachelor's and master's degrees in environmental science and engineering from
Virginia Tech. She holds certifications in Resource Conservation from the California Resource Recovery Association, the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the 21st Century Leadership program at the
University of California, Los Angeles.
