Recipients of the exclusive college scholarships are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial need and demonstrated leadership potential. Women of Teradata member donations fund the scholarships for female students pursuing careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Scholarship applicants were all graduating high school women in a community where Teradata has an office.  The school scholarships are awarded for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Women of Teradata President Kathy Edmons said, "We had a record number of applicants this year. We encourage and support their dreams to attend the four-year college or university in preparation for a career in science, technology, engineering or math."

Local scholarship chairpersons this year were Sonya Stallings in Atlanta, Sherri Morgan in Dayton, and Robin Jessani in San Diego.

Winners of the 2013 Women of Teradata Scholarships are:

Katherine Borden of Escondido, CA, will major in biomedical engineering at Rice University. Currently a student at Escondido High School, she is involved in Academic League, plays oboe and saxophone, and sings in the school show choir. She also volunteers with the Escondido humane society. Borden is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Borden.

Beja Turner of Stone Mountain, GA, plans to major in public health. A senior at Tucker High School, Turner is the co-vice president of the National Honor Society, secretary of the senior class student council, and the treasurer of the National Beta Club. She is also member of the volleyball team and co-captain of the swim team. Turner is the daughter of Patrick and Angela Turner.

Chelsea Bradshaw of Trotwood, Ohio, will major in biology at Spelman College in Atlanta. She is a senior at The Dayton Regional STEM School in Kettering, where she is a school ambassador, a member of the Student Government Association, and editor of the Yearbook.
