Sony Announces First East And West Coast Installations Of 3D Imaging Solution For Ophthalmic Surgery
PARK RIDGE, N.J., April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics, a leader in providing innovative imaging solutions for microsurgery, announces the first east and west coast installations of its end-to-end 3D imaging solution for ophthalmic surgery. Robert Cionni, M.D., Cataract Surgeon, Eye Institute of Utah, Salt Lake City and Richard J. Mackool, M.D., Senior Attending Surgeon, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Director, Mackool Eye Institute and Laser Center, and Professor of Ophthalmology, New York University Medical Center, are the first to install this complete medical-grade 3D imaging solution for ophthalmic surgery, which includes Sony's MCC-3000MT 3D camera, HVO-3000MT 3D video recorder, and 3D display, the LMD- 2451MT 24-inch LCD widescreen monitor with full HD resolution. The solution will be demonstrated at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Symposium April 21 – 23, 2013, in San Francisco.

Additionally, Sony offers four adaptors to fit a wide variety of surgical microscopes allowing for increased compatibility of the 3D camera. This enables hospitals and surgical centers to invest in this comprehensive 3D solution without having to replace their existing microscopes, avoiding extra expense.
