Overseas Adventure Travel Announces New Southern Africa Adventure For Late 2013

BOSTON, April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to high demand for safaris and cultural immersion trips in Southern Africa, Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) is launching a new small group adventure beginning in October 2013.  The 17-day Southern Africa: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Botswana trip begins at $4495, or just $265 per day, and includes free single supplements for solo travelers on both the base trip and optional extensions to Botswana's Okavango Delta and Cape Town & the Cape of Good Hope.

"Of the 36 small group adventures we offer, those to Southern Africa and East Africa are our most popular, with greatest demand for itineraries in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe," said OAT CEO Alan E. Lewis.  "Our new Southern Africa itinerary includes all of these countries, with opportunities to engage with local people in their homes, schools, and villages and the chance to experience wildlife in three of the world's most spectacular national parks."

OAT is committed to making African safaris more affordable for older Americans, including solo travelers who now comprise 35% of all OAT travelers.  Since 2012, more than 14,000 Americans have booked a safari with OAT, including 5,700 solo travelers…80% of whom were women.

On " Southern Africa: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Botswana", small groups of just 10-16 travelers will experience the open plains of Kruger National Park in South Africa; the mighty power of Victoria Falls, on the borders of Zimbawe and Zambia; and the idyllic beauty of Namibia's Impalila Island, a bird-watcher's paradise.

In a safari adventure spanning four nations, with three-night stays in three national parks, travelers will witness a rich array of landscapes and species—from a stay in Chobe National Park along the banks of one of Africa's most beautiful rivers, to a silent vigil by a moonlit waterhole in Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park.  Travelers will set forth on foot, aboard safari vehicles, and by riverboat, with experienced Trip Leaders and driver-guides sharing their expertise and insight along the way.

What's Included:Accommodations for 12 nights in safari lodges or tented camps, three nights at the Sprayview Hotel in Victoria Falls, one night at an airport hotel in Johannesburg; 46 meals (16B, 15L, 15D); 25 small group activities, including up to 19 game-viewing drives, boat cruises, and walks; all park fees; expert OAT Trip Leader and driver-guides; 5% Frequent Traveler Credit toward the next OAT trip—an average of $390; special Good Buy Plan discount; complimentary OAT safari duffle and laundry service at tented camps; porterage for 1 bag per person; and more.  Single supplements are free on this (and all) OAT adventures, including pre-and-post trip extensions.

Pre-and-Post Trip Extensions:OAT offers two optional pre-and-post trip extensions on this adventure:  The 5-night Botswana's Okavango Delta pre-trip extension begins at $1995, while the 4-night Cape Town & The Cape of Good Hope post-trip extension begins at $1095

Trip Personalization:In order to provide flexibility to travelers, OAT offers myriad opportunities for trip personalization.  Travelers may choose to purchase OAT's airfare, which includes airport transfers, government taxes, fees, and airline fuel surcharges; work with OAT and request specific airline and routings and/or upgrades; or choose OAT's Land Tour-only option and make their own air arrangements.  In addition, travelers may choose a trip extension, request a "break away" to spend a few days in a destination before or after their OAT trip, overnight in a connecting city, and even combine adventures to create a back-to-back trip.
