Governor Corbett Names Michael Wolf As Secretary Of Health Department
Cumberland County Man Has Been Department's Acting Secretary Since October
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today named Michael Wolf as Secretary of the Department of Health.
Wolf will oversee the regulation of Pennsylvania's hospitals, nursing homes and various other health care facilities, while organizing and supporting public health initiatives and services, as well as outreach, education, prevention and preparedness activities. The department has an annual budget of more than $838 million and has approximately 1,700 employees.

"I have confidence in his knowledge of the public health system, as well as his leadership ability and dedication to the commonwealth."Wolf, 46, of Enola, joined the health department in May 2011 as executive deputy secretary after working as Pfizer's director of worldwide public affairs and policy. He was named acting secretary in October 2012. The Department of Health has been working to modernize Pennsylvania's health care system, increase access to health care in rural and underserved areas, and expand programs that help attract and retain health care practitioners.
