Capital Insurance Group Celebrates 115th Anniversary

MONTEREY, Calif., April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --  Capital Insurance Group® (CIG), the leading regional property and casualty insurer serving the Western U.S., announced that today, Thursday April 4, 2013, marks the company's 115th anniversary.

In 1898, a group of prosperous farmers collaborated to form the Ventura County Mutual Fire Insurance Company to provide coverage and protect themselves from various disaster claims, especially fires. Through significant growth and mergers, the innovative company weathered more than a century of challenges and evolved into CIG, a strong, agile, employee-owned industry leader that provides insurance products in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Idaho and New Mexico.

"We are proud to have reached this milestone and honored to commemorate our longstanding commitment to providing the highest quality protection for our policy clients, empowering our Independent Insurance Agents, employees, and supporting local communities," said Peter Cazzolla, President and CEO of Capital Insurance Group.

In an ongoing effort to better serve its customers and celebrate its 115 th year, the company invested in new methods of communication and technologies, including its recently redesigned website,, and the upcoming release of the CIG Mobile App for iPhone and Android devices. To further commemorate its anniversary, CIG has released a celebratory logo, which will be used in conjunction with the standard company logo throughout the year. CIG is also expanding its successful Community Safety Saturday™ events to more locations this year. At these free community and safety-oriented events hosted by the local CIG Insurance Advisor, families receive digital photo ID and fingerprint kits for every child, get a free child car-seat inspection, engage with local emergency and community leaders, and have fun while learning valuable safety and emergency preparedness tips.

"We've been around a long time because we build strong, long lasting relationships with our customers, employees, and business partners, and leave a positive impact throughout the communities we operate in," added Walter Bennett, Vice President of Underwriting. "As we look toward the future, CIG reaffirms its commitment to providing professional, caring client service, offering superior insurance protection and value-added benefits and supporting our Insurance Advisors and employees every step of the way."
