Agilex, a leading provider of mission and technology solutions to the federal government, today announced the appointment of
Roger W. Baker to the newly created position of Chief Strategy Officer. Baker previously served as Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) from 2009 to 2013, and as CIO for the U.S. Department of Commerce from 1998 to 2001.
"As one of the most respected and transformative CIOs in government history, Roger redefined technology's role in the federal sector," said Agilex co-founder and Vice Chairman
Jay Nussbaum. "He will build upon his numerous accomplishments while advancing Agilex' position as our clients' most trusted and valuable partner. With his appointment, it should be clear that we are fully committed to our clients' long-term and enduring success."
As Chief Strategy Officer, Baker will work closely with agencies to implement strategies and technologies to modernize IT operations, lower sustainment costs, enhance performance and improve mission results. He will also lead strategic initiatives to leverage and scale Agilex' proven capabilities to address the needs of additional clients and larger programs. These efforts will include working with industry partners to develop joint solutions and integrated, best-of-breed delivery teams.
He is also responsible for extending Agilex' reputation across federal agencies as a preeminent government solutions provider, widely recognized for superior customer value, operational excellence, integrity and industry-leading solutions. In addition, he will play a key role in the execution of Agilex' corporate strategy, as it seeks to become a billion-dollar company over the next decade.
"In today's financial climate, it is important that technology be viewed as an investment that is essential to mission success. Delivering results that benefit the mission is a key part of that," said Baker. "Agilex has consistently delivered results for its clients, even on some of the most challenging programs. The company is a leader in the successful adoption of emerging technologies such as agile software development and mobile devices. I am excited to join the Agilex leadership team, and to be charged with defining our corporate strategies as we seek to deliver results for a broader set of customers."
