, their Board of Trustees and their Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Barry J. Stenger Ph.D. as the new Executive Director. Stenger will replace
, who left St. Anthony's last fall to return to
to become the CEO of the
Society for the Blind
In St. Anthony's 63 year history of serving the poor and low income of
, Stenger is the seventh person to lead the organization. The Board of Directors launched a 6 month nationwide search to find the candidate whose qualifications could best fulfill the unique charge to lead one of
's most historic and cherished nonprofits.
Stenger has over twenty years of nonprofit management experience. He has been St. Anthony's Director of Development for the past eight years. He holds a Ph.D. in social ethics from the
University of Chicago
, taught at the
Graduate Theological Union
Santa Clara University
, and has contributed to the work of the Franciscans on the west coast in a variety of capacities.
