March 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- While veterans returning from service struggle to find work, America's farmers are aging without enough young people to fill the void. However, the March issue of
Food Nutrition & Science examines an organization called The Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) that's cultivating a new generation of farmers and food leaders through the collaboration of the farming and military communities.
"The average American farmer is 57, and starting a farm is not easy," says

FVC currently has a network of over 600 veterans in over 47 states. Growing their client base as well as their national scope is a priority for 2013.
