/PRNewswire/ -- PDI Ninth House, a Korn/Ferry company, announced it is a winner of a Bersin By
award in the category of "Delivering Innovation." Bersin chose PDI Ninth House's work with Suncor Energy for its success in creating and implementing a long-term, integrated employee development campaign.
From hundreds of applicants, Bersin recognized the program as an innovative model for engaging employees to establish career goals and follow through on solid development plans.
"Implemented in a climate of ongoing market turbulence, winning programs this year focused heavily on business agility, analytics, continuous development, collaboration and change management," said
, vice president of research, Bersin by Deloitte. "Among the other themes that emerged were the need to invest in tomorrow's leaders from within their ranks to combat a worldwide shortage of leadership talent; having a simple, sustainable framework for matching competencies to roles for better talent management; and a need for organizations to mine current and past employee populations to compete for the best talent."
Working together, PDI Ninth House and Suncor implemented a new employee capability model that focused not only on those who wanted to advance to the next level but also technical experts. Suncor defines technical experts as employees who are critical to the organization's success but not necessarily interested in moving into a people leader role. The new employee capability model included individualized sets of expectations for all levels of employees.
Part of the innovation of this program was the way Suncor promoted it throughout the organization. The company used executive speaking opportunities, articles, online tutorials and videos to create awareness and also put all content into its technology-based performance management system.
By identifying priorities and setting development goals based on employee and leader capabilities, Suncor promoted professional growth at all levels of business.
