HoneyBaked And Feeding America® Closer To Goal Of Providing 100,000 Meals To The Hungry

CINCINNATI, March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On February 27, HoneyBaked joined with Feeding America®, the nation's leading anti-hunger organization, to donate 100,000 meals* to the nation's hungry. At the halfway point of their campaign, HoneyBaked customers have helped provide more than 50,000 meals to low-income families. To officially launch the program, HoneyBaked donated 4,000 pounds of ham (10,000 immediate meals)** in the Washington, D.C. area, where one in five children is at risk of or experiencing hunger.

Through March 27, customers are invited to help HoneyBaked at stores across the nation by simply donating one dollar at the register. One hundred percent of donations will go to Feeding America®, which at a national level can provide eight meals for every dollar donated.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, in 2011, 50.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, which includes 33.5 million adults and 16.7 million children. "They often must turn to their local food banks, many of which experience a decline in donations after the New Year."
