Three New Companies Join The Broadband Forum Board Of Directors

Annual Meeting highlights new technical specifications, awards leadership excellence and welcomes new members

SAN ANTONIO, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Broadcom's Technical Director, Lowell D. Lamb, Deutsche Telekom's International Standardization Expert, Manuel Paul, and Huawei's Director of Access Standards, Les Brown, have been elected to the Broadband Forum's Board of Directors during the quarterly meeting in San Antonio, Texas. The three bring a wealth of industry knowledge, and provide expertise to support some of the key architecture and new service requirement work, such as FTTdp, Cloud and SDN.

In addition to these new Board members, Sultan Dawood of Cisco Systems was elected Marketing Chair, Christophe Alter of France Telecom-Orange won re-election as Technical Chair and Tom Starr of AT&T was re-elected to the Board. The 2013 officers include Tom Starr (AT&T) as Chairman, Kevin Foster (BT) as President, Frank Van der Putten (Alcatel-Lucent) as Treasurer, David Sinicrope (Ericsson) as Secretary, and Andrew Malis (Verizon Communications) and Marcin Drzymala (France Telecom-Orange) as Vice Presidents.

Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum, said: "I'm delighted to have such experienced and innovative Board members on our senior management team. We are kicking off work in a variety of areas, such as Fiber to the Distribution Point (FTTdp), Cloud impacts on Broadband Networks, Intelligent Optical Distribution Networks (iODN), Packet & Optical integration, G.vector Testing and M2M Remote Management via TR-069. This Board is well equipped to provide the strategic focus and drive necessary to address this wide scope of initiatives and to keep critical work on track with market requirements."

Some significant pieces of work were also completed and approved at the meeting. This included updates to five documents and the release of the Technical Report 255 (TR-255), a test plan designed to verify interoperability between network OLTs and BBF.247 certified ONUs.
