ICAP Patent Brokerage announces for auction an IP package of high-definition, full-color e-ink innovations from the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation,
Yonsei University. This lot will be included in the 18
th ICAP Ocean Tomo IP Auction on
March 20, 2013, at the Rosewood Sand Hill in
Menlo Park, California.

Key Characteristics & BenefitsThis IP package features a flexible electrophoretic – electronic paper or e-ink – display capable of displaying multi-color, high-definition images. Unlike conventional backlit flat panel displays that emit light, electronic paper displays reflect light like ordinary paper, making it more comfortable to read and giving the surface a wider viewing angle. Applications of electronic paper technology are far-reaching and growing steadily, and include digital signage, labels in retail shops, billboards, mobile phone displays, and the ubiquitous e-reader.
The portfolio covers a grayscale representation unit with various charged particles for displaying grayscale by using light reflection and transmission. The color in the display is presented by using colored particles in an electrode placed above the grayscale unit. These colored particles are made of metallic nano-particles and formed in a specific pattern on the upper electrode for presenting a high-definition, multi-color colored display. Manufacturing of the colored particles or layers may include slurry process, screen printing, ink-jet, or nano-printing that may have high industrial applicability and is cost effective.
