A series of compelling workshops which address pressing disability issues will be offered free-of-charge to all attendees. Sessions will focus on travel, emergency preparedness, finances, thriving as a parent of a unique child, fitness, finding the correct mobility device and that is just for starters.

Abilities Expo does not merely inform, it engages and it entertains. Attendees of all levels of ability can test their skills on an adaptive climbing wall, learn laughter yoga and play adaptive sports. For the kids, there will be face painting, adaptive pinball and Patches the Clown.Expo-goers will not only have the chance to learn the latest hip-hop and ballroom dance moves, they will also get the chance to be a part of our very first Abilities Expo flash mob. And to memorialize their Expo experience, we have free professional 5"x7" photos for everyone with a disability. To round it out, there will be the coronation of the 2013 Ms. Wheelchair California and an Artist Market showcasing the works of local artists with disabilities. Meet the Animals Animals have become an intrinsic part of the disability community. Some are essential to the healing process, while others help their human partners become more independent. Expo-goers will enjoy assistance dog demos and learn how horses can help connect to kids with Autism. Celebrity Encounters Dr. David Kipper, medical expert, radio celebrity and doctor-to-the-stars, will answer any health-related questions on March 16 from 10:00 am to noon during the live broadcast of his KABC 790 AM radio program, The Medical Show. Attendees will meet the stars of Push Girls, a new docu-series from Sundance Channel which traces the lives of four dynamic women who happen to be in wheelchairs. Rupert Issacson, co-founder of Horse Boy World and author of The Horse Boy, will share the techniques he has developed to improve verbal communication with autistic children. This Horse Boy Method can be executed both with and without the use of horses. Angela Madsen, Paralympian and World Record Holder for Rowing, will show off her ocean rowing boat, RowofLife, and introduce attendees to the exciting sport of adaptive rowing. Special Film Screening On March 16, attendees will have the opportunity to see Not Home, the poignant documentary about children with disabilities growing up without a childhood as they are housed in nursing homes and state-run institutions.
