NEW YORK, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation, a scholarship program that has provided $2.9 million in college scholarships to 117 children of firefighters and victims of the September 11 attacks as well as other U.S. disasters, today announced that Deirdre Bolton, an anchor for Bloomberg Television, has agreed to serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the Foundation's eleventh annual dinner. The event is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation began in response to a terrible tragedy – the loss of Michael Lynch, a son, brother, fiancé, uncle and New York City firefighter who sacrificed his own life on September 11 in an effort to save others. Facing the ultimate loss, the Lynch family saw an opportunity to help finance the education of young people as a living tribute to the human spirit and the family's collective resolve to respond to adversity with courage, strength, compassion and hope. The goal of the Foundation is to provide the means to help change the world, one person at a time, by helping the students of today become tomorrow's stewards of peace and freedom.
Bolton serves as an anchor on Bloomberg Television and host of "Money Moves," the weekday program airing at 1 pm ET that provides a daily look at global money flows into alternative assets, including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, angel investing, real estate and natural resources. The show explores where the world's savviest global investors are placing their bets outside of traditional investing.
Since joining Bloomberg in 1999, Bolton has co-anchored Bloomberg Television's morning programming and analyzed trading across U.S., European and Asian markets. She has also interviewed numerous business leaders, heads of state and high-profile investors. Additionally, Bolton has participated in gatherings for some of the world's top business minds including the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, Korea. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and a master's degree from New York University."We are very pleased that Deirdre Bolton has agreed to serve as the emcee of the upcoming Lynch Foundation annual dinner," said Jonathan Henes, a restructuring partner at Kirkland & Ellis who serves on the Board of Directors of the Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation. "Her participation, along with Michael Freitag's involvement as Honorary Chair, will help to increase awareness of the Foundation's mission and activities among a growing number of supporters in the business and investment community."
