DETROIT, Feb. 28, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint, a Compuware (Nasdaq:CPWR) company, today announced a new alliance with Milliman, Inc., a premier global consulting and actuarial firm. Milliman's innovative opportunity-based population analytics capabilities will now be integrated into the Covisint Healthcare platform, extending Covisint's population and risk management capabilities as a catalyst to help accountable care organizations (ACOs) achieve their full potential.
ACOs traditionally lack the ability to predict cost implications and savings, which has been a barrier to gaining provider support and engagement. By delivering predictive analytics at the point of care, ACOs can address key business and financial challenges.
"The relationship with Covisint makes Milliman's opportunity-based population analytics available at the point of care," said Art Wilmes, FSA, MAAA and a Principal and Consulting Actuary for Milliman. "This relationship expands Milliman's ACO offerings—which include actuarial and healthcare consulting as well as financial and clinical analytics—by helping ACOs to use additional care management to reduce avoidable costs in patient populations. Rather than just identifying the highest-cost patients, our approach focuses on the optimal deployment of care management teams and on identifying opportunities to 'bend the cost curve.'""This alliance will help ACOs achieve critical goals, in particular by satisfying their need to improve their quality of care and avoid unnecessary costs. Our alliance with Milliman extends Covisint's ability to drive deep value to the accountable care equation as we are now able to identify chronic populations, predict outcomes and conduct population health management," said Steve McDonald, Vice President of Healthcare for Covisint. "This is a powerful differentiator that, we believe, nobody else can do, and it reflects Covisint's continued commitment to bring innovative healthcare solutions to market through our cloud-based platform."
