NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Union Pacific (NYSE:UNP) hit a new 52-week high Thursday as it is currently trading at $138.09, above its previous 52-week high of $138 with 678,110 shares traded as of 11:26 a.m. ET. Average volume has been 1.9 million shares over the past 30 days.

Union Pacific has a market cap of $62.86 billion and is part of the services sector and transportation industry. Shares are up 8.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.

Union Pacific Corporation, through its subsidiary, Union Pacific Railroad Company, provides rail transportation services in North America. The company has a P/E ratio of 16.2, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
