Mark Quick, Former Vice Chairman, FossilMINNEAPOLIS,
Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Scholarship America
®, the nation's leading nonprofit scholarship and educational support organization, is pleased to announce that
Mark D. Quick has been elected to serve as a member of Scholarship America's Board of Trustees.
Quick retired as vice chairman of Fossil in 2012, after serving 17 years with the company in a variety of areas, from international business to supply chain management. Prior to joining Fossil, Quick worked as senior vice president of merchandising for Federated Department Stores.
Coming from a family of educators – his mother was a public grade school teacher and his father held various university teaching and administrative positions – Quick understands the value of postsecondary education for our nation, and the importance of Scholarship America's mission.
"Scholarship America works directly at the heart of our country's biggest economic challenge: education. We cannot rank 17th of 50 nations and succeed in facing our challenges at home and around the globe," said Quick. "Nothing can be more important than helping students learn and grow, so I am very honored to join the board of an organization that does just that."
"Mark embodies the spirit of what Scholarship America is all about: helping students overcome barriers and to succeed in the pursuit of their academic and life goals. Mark will be a great asset to our organization as we shape Scholarship America's future," said
Lauren A. Segal, president and CEO of Scholarship America.
Quick and his wife divide their time between their homes in
North Carolina, and are actively involved in both communities. Quick is a graduate of
Oklahoma State University. He continues to serve on Fossil's board of directors.
