Carmike Cinemas Announces The Grand Opening Of The Carmike 12 In Decatur, Alabama Including The Critically Acclaimed Signature “BIGD” Ultimate Entertainment Experience

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ: CKEC), a leading DIGITAL cinema and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, announced today that it will unveil its newest entertainment complex in the Decatur Mall located at 1801 Beltline Road in Decatur, AL on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The new twelve-screen theatre can seat over 2,300 guests in luxurious comfort and features Carmike’s critically acclaimed “BIGD” auditorium. The grand opening of the Carmike 12 will feature a selection of Hollywood’s latest movies, including a special debut presentation of Disney’s highly-anticipated fantastical adventure “ Oz The Great & Powerful” at 9:00 p.m.

Carmike Cinemas President and Chief Executive Officer David Passman stated, “Carmike continues actively expanding our growing circuit, on our way to 300 theatres and 3,000 screens through selective acquisitions and the addition of multiple new-build theatres in promising locations like Decatur, across ‘Hometown America.’ Alabama has become of one of our top-five states, with 13 theatres at year-end, including six properties we recently acquired from Rave Review Cinemas last November. In addition to our new entertainment complex at the Decatur Mall, we have another theatre that will soon begin construction in Opelika, AL.

The new facility is equipped with auditoriums featuring state-of-the-art stadium style seating, with comfortable high back luxury chairs, retractable armrests and convenient cup holders. The Carmike 12 also contains large, wall-to-wall screens, as well as DLP DIGITAL projection and DIGITAL sound. The new theatre has an upscale lobby, multiple concession areas featuring Coca Cola Freestyle drink centers and an indoor box office, so filmgoers can escape the elements.
