Because one in eight people around the world face food insecurity each day, Kellogg Company and its foundation, the Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund, pledged today to provide one-half billion servings of breakfast to children and families who need it most, through its new
Breakfasts for Better Days™ initiative. In total, the company will donate 1 billion servings of cereal and snacks in its support of global hunger relief by the end of 2016

The launch of
Breakfasts for Better Days™ coincides with Kellogg's National Breakfast Week (
March 4-8, 2013) in the U.S. According to U.S. federal statistics, 20 million elementary- and high-school-age students in need receive free or low-cost lunches at school, yet just 10 million of these students receive breakfast at school
2 – leaving a critical gap in their nutritional needs.
To help these children get a healthy breakfast, Kellogg has pledged
$1 million in grants in the U.S. to nonprofit partners
Action for Healthy Kids®,
Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign and
Food Research and Action Center so that more schools can participate in federally-funded breakfast programs. The company will also work to expand breakfast programs around the globe, maximizing product donations and advocating for the important role breakfast plays in the diet.
