WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Truist, a leading provider of corporate philanthropy solutions, announced today it is committing close to $220,000 to support A Billion + Change, a national campaign created to mobilize billions of dollars of pro bono and skills-based services. This commitment includes nearly $170,000 of paid time off from its employees to support causes of their choosing and a donation of $50,000 worth of software licenses and support services to organizations that demonstrate a need and are active in helping others.
"The goals of A Billion + Change are right on target with Truist's mission of giving back and helping others," said William B. Horne, President and CEO of Truist. "Our employees are already very active in volunteer activities, as this is something they feel very passionate about. When our staff learned we were pledging company time and resources to this campaign, it was met with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and support."
A Billion + Change was launched in 2011 with a mission to get 500 companies willing to pledge their best business skills and talents to build nonprofit capacity and address critical community needs at home and abroad. To date, the campaign has received commitments from more than 290 companies totaling an estimated $1.9 billion.
"Having companies like Truist who generously donate their best business skills and talents to nonprofits with scarce resources is a powerful driver to address community priorities," said Jennifer Lawson, Executive Director at A Billion + Change. "We're measuring the success of our campaign not on the dollar value pledged, but on the social value achieved. We're thrilled to have Truist join us in the largest commitment of corporate pro bono service in history."About Truist Truist provides an industry-leading corporate philanthropy platform that enables companies to drive increases in giving, matching and volunteerism programs to measure a local or global return on philanthropic investing.
