Survey Explores Ownership and Development Issues
BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute is asking IT professionals for the challenges they face managing and developing business applications used on mobile and employee-owned devices.
"With smartphones and tablets, applications are where most of the risk resides," says survey co-author and senior SANS analyst Kevin Johnson. "We are hoping this survey will help flesh out the risks and provide means to deal with them."
For example, mobile, cloud and web applications are closely entwined, so this survey attempts to delineate where and how these applications are managed and protected.
The survey also asks several development questions, including the most common development platforms, as well as the maturity of organizational lifecycle management programs. "What we wanted to get down to with this survey is, 'What are the unique security demands that mobile/employee-owned devices put on business applications, and how are organizations attempting to meet those demands?" says Deb Radcliff, executive editor of the SANS Analyst Program producing the survey. "The data should provide action items for organizations serving applications to mobile and employee-owned devices as well as those developing applications for mobile devices." Take the survey to help shape the mobile application security landscape. Also enter to win an iPad! Visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013MobileAppSurvey. Results will be released at a SANS webcast scheduled for June 6 at 1 PM EDT.
