NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Ensco PLC Class A (NYSE:ESV) hit a new 52-week high Thursday as it is currently trading at $65.23, above its previous 52-week high of $65.19 with 1.5 million shares traded as of 1:57 p.m. ET. Average volume has been 1.9 million shares over the past 30 days.

Ensco PLC Class A has a market cap of $14.82 billion and is part of the basic materials sector and energy industry. Shares are up 7.6% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.

Ensco plc provides offshore contract drilling services to the oil and gas industry worldwide. The company has a P/E ratio of 12.4, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
