BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) today introduced the most comprehensive Application Performance Management (APM) SaaS offering in the industry.
The new offering delivers enterprise-grade APM capabilities as a service, providing quick time to value and making APM available to every enterprise that cares about application performance. The solution is the first to integrate deep end-user experience monitoring and server-side, backend monitoring into the same management console with a SaaS delivery model. The result provides enterprises with a complete picture of application performance as seen by end users in real-time.
The new solution also delivers advanced integration with the Akamai Intelligent Platform, providing customers with extensive insight into application performance as seen by end users, even when portions of an application are being delivered using Akamai’s technology.
“As a SaaS vendor ourselves, we really need to be able to see what our users are seeing. Before BMC APM, we had to do a lot of guesswork,” said Q. Wade Billings, Sr. Manager of SaaS Hosting Operations at AtTask. ”By bringing BMC APM into our environment we now have visibility into what the application is doing from an end-user perspective so we know before they do when there are issues arising.”BMC pioneered an approach to APM that allows IT staff to monitor the actual experience of each end user. Today’s web-scale applications are much more complex, however, and often use performance optimization technologies such as content delivery networks and caching to improve the end user experience. BMC’s new release provides integration with Akamai’s network, providing IT staff insight into the total end-user experience, whatever the source of the content. In addition to detecting outages and slow performance, BMC APM can help IT staff identify the best Akamai caching and acceleration strategy, improving performance even further. “BMC’s APM as a Service offering provides a very robust, end-user centric solution for companies to gain complete performance visibility for applications deployed in the public, private, and hybrid cloud environments,” said Tim Knudsen, Sr. Director of Business Development, Akamai Technologies. "Akamai and BMC worked closely to integrate with BMC's offering to provide customers with unprecedented visibility into web application performance as seen by real end users, wherever they are in the world, however they connect."
