Called Tissue World, the event was started in 1993 in the beautiful French Riviera town of Nice.
In fact the gathering, which is held in Europe every two years, has grown steadily and now attracts thousands of visitors from the tissue paper business from more than 90 countries around the world. In March the event will celebrate its 20th anniversary and be held in Barcelona, Spain.

They are also big drivers of traffic for retailers ranging from the giants like Walmart, Carrefour and Costco all the way down to small mom-and-pop corner stores. Tissue products are an essential part of daily life for billions of people around the world and retailers know that by advertising good prices for these essentials they will bring consumer traffic to their retail outlets. Believe it or not, tissue product manufacturing is a very high tech industry. It has been stated that the modern tissue machine running at more than 2200 m/m (which is equivalent to 132 km/h or 82 mph) has more sophisticated automation controls than a modern airliner. The scale of investment to get into the tissue producing business can range from a couple million dollars for a small converting line although it up to hundreds of millions dollars for a complete modern paper mill with large-scale converting and packaging equipment.
