NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Tesoro Corporation (NYSE:TSO) hit a new 52-week high Tuesday as it is currently trading at $50.10, above its previous 52-week high of $49.68 with 2.6 million shares traded as of 2:05 p.m. ET. Average volume has been 3.2 million shares over the past 30 days.

Tesoro has a market cap of $6.93 billion and is part of the basic materials sector and energy industry. Shares are up 10.8% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday.

Tesoro Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, engages in refining and marketing petroleum products in the United States. It operates in two segments, Refining and Retail. The company has a P/E ratio of 11.7, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
