MKA Capital Group Advisors Is Hole In One For Elkhorn Golf Course

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- After sending DEVCO Builder's Asset Management Division, on behalf of MKA Capital Group Advisors, up to Elkhorn Golf Course to see how the project was being run, Jason Sugarman of MKA Capital Group Advisors LLC decided to take over the asset in December, 2009.

George Baker, President of DEVCO Builders, sent his team and they went to work on several different aspects of the Elkhorn Asset. One was to bring the Elkhorn Golf Course operations computers and software up to date. A covered seating area has been added to the snack area and the course was cleaned up, cleared and opened up in some areas with the removal of some trees, making the course more player friendly. New golf carts and golf course maintenance equipment was brought in to maintain the integrity of the golf course and provide the players with a more enjoyable experience.

MKA Capital Group Advisors fought lawsuits from environmentalists and anti- development groups and prevailed in all litigation matters to protect the land and water entitlements. DEVCO Builders was able to receive final approval from the County of Marion for the entitlements of the Elkhorn project which included 463 acres of developable residential land. This includes 150 single family residence lots, 46 cottage/condominium lots, Resort amenities, a Hotel pad and 18 hole golf course.

With the consolidation of staff and excess supplies, Elkhorn Golf Course, under DEVCO Builder Management, was able to see a profit by winter of 2010! Jason Sugarman and George Baker are happy with the vast turnaround of the Elkhorn Golf Course asset; with the material improvements and the financial performance as a whole.
