DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio solutions and audio enhancement technologies, today announced that DTS Neural Surround™ technology will be integrated into the NFL’s international HD broadcast of Super Bowl XLVII, live from New Orleans. DTS and the NFL will provide television viewers across the globe the opportunity to experience the game in full 5.1 surround sound.
“Easily one of the world’s most-viewed television events, the entire production of the Super Bowl is powered by the industry’s best broadcast technologies to ensure that fans receive the highest quality feed possible,” said Jon Kirchner, chairman and CEO of DTS. “We are very excited to again be working with the NFL and our broadcasting solutions partners to broadcast the Super Bowl in DTS Neural Surround sound. With DTS Neural Surround, football fans around the world will easily hear the crash of helmets and pads, coaches yelling from the sidelines and fans cheering throughout the stadium, directly from the comfort of their living rooms.”
DTS Neural Surround provides a new approach to surround sound broadcast productions, enabling a seamless conversion between stereo and surround sound audio through a special capture, edit, management and delivery process. Integrated into hardware by DaySequerra, DTS Neural Surround allows broadcast production teams to preserve the integrity of the 5.1 surround mix while transmitting audio in a stereo format at the highest resolution possible. The technology supports legacy audio codecs and is a low latency solution for editing and monitoring in stereo.
Super Bowl XLVII, hosted at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, will air on February 3, to more than 180 countries and territories in approximately 25 different languages. The live broadcast begins at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.For more information about DTS, please visit www.dts.com, or connect with DTS on Facebook and Twitter (@DTS_Inc). About DTS, Inc. DTS, Inc.
