SAO PAULO, Jan. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PennWell Corporation announced today that Furnas will be the Host Utility for HydroVision Brasil, DistribuTECH Brasil and POWER-GEN Brasil to be jointly held
September 24-26, 2013 at the Transamerica Expo Center in
Sao Paulo, Brazil. Furnas is a major subsidiary of Eletrobras in charge of generation and transmission of electric power in the southeast region of the country. It is currently comprised of 15 hydro plants, 2 thermal plants, 52 substations and roughly 20,000 Km of high voltage transmission lines. New power plants, including wind power plants, and new transmission lines will be integrated into the electric system within the next few years. Over 40% of the energy consumed in
Brazil passes through the Furnas Electric System.
