AHAM Canada Announces New Leadership

WASHINGTON and OTTAWA, Jan. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Canada today announced the appointment of Sue Stevenson, Vice President/ General Manager of Electrolux Major Appliances, Canada, as Chair of AHAM's Canada Council.  The Council is AHAM Canada's membership body that oversees the association's work in Canada.  In this leadership position, Stevenson will also serve as a voting member of AHAM's Board of Directors.

In addition to the appointment of Stevenson, AHAM Canada also announced the promotion of Bruce Rebel from Director of Technical Services to Vice President and General Manager of AHAM Canada.  Rebel has more than fifteen years of regulatory and quality assurance experience in Canada, and several years of experience directly in the appliance industry.  The AHAM Canada office, located in Ottawa, ON will staff three Canadian employees. 

AHAM President Joe McGuire said "AHAM Canada has increased the appliance industry's visibility with Canadian policy makers and stakeholders and the addition of Sue Stevenson and Bruce Rebel to our volunteer and staff leadership team will take us to new heights.  The Canada Council now includes fifty appliance manufacturing companies and is growing."

AHAM Canada represents the major, portable and floor care appliance manufacturers before the federal and provincial governments and works closely with technical bodies impacting the home appliance industry.  AHAM also provides a robust market statistics program for Canada. 

AHAM Canada is the Canadian office of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, whose members produce the vast majority of home appliances sold in the United States and Canada.  AHAM also is a standards development organization, authoring numerous appliance test standards as well as appliance sustainability standards in partnership with the Canadian Standards Association and UL Environment.
