Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project Shines A Light On Emerging Artists

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project offers emerging artists local gallery showcases, unique and permanent installation opportunities and the chance to show and sell their art at SCOPE Miami -- the premiere showcase for international emerging contemporary art which runs during Art Basel.

In 2013, Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project will host gallery showcases and competitions in seven cities across the country -- San Francisco (January), Los Angeles (March), Chicago (May), Dallas (June), New York (September), Atlanta (November) and Miami (December). In each city, 20 hand-picked artists will be paired with venue owners from some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants. Artists will be given a one-day challenge to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull Cooler into an inspired work of art customized for permanent display at each venue.  The art created in each city will be exhibited in a one-night only public showcase at a local gallery where attending guests and a panel of curatorial judges will vote on each piece ultimately sending two artists from each city to SCOPE Miami.

The first showcase will take place in San Francisco on January 31, 2013 at 9 p.m. at Public Works. The 20 featured artists include:  Carly Ivan Garcia, ErikOtto, Apex, Akira Beard, Studio DCL, Ian Ross, CHOR BOOGIE, Eon75, Hugh Leeman, Zio Ziegler, Kelly Allen, N8 Van Dyke, D Young V, Jet Martinez, Ryan De La Hoz, Slvstr©, Nathan Wong, Oliver Black, Tommy Noshitsky, Joshua Clements.
