How Foodies Can Win the Super Bowl Without Playing

LAS VEGAS ( TheStreet) -- It's Super Bowl time, so TravelsinTaste has scoured the country to find where you can not only watch the game in style, but dine on some fantastic tailgate fare.

In Las Vegas, uberfan and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse has lowered the lights and turned up the heat to create the ultimate fan experience at Lagasse's Stadium with plenty of kicked-up game-day bar food and drink favorites, smiling Stadium Girls, flatscreen TVs and the comfiest seats around. Just steps from Las Vegas Boulevard in front of The Palazzo, this is tailgating done Vegas style. Game Day dishes include Cheesy Beer with warm, soft pretzels, Emeril's Steak Bam'wich and Spice-rubbed Baby Back Ribs. With more than 100 HD TVs, including a 9-foot-by-16-foot main TV, fans of the game need never worry about missing the action. For those looking to make a few friendly wagers, The Palazzo's race and sports book lies inside the venue, and the interactive pocketcasino mobile device lets fans bet on the action as it happens.

Minus5 Ice Bar at Mandalay Place is kicking off the Super Bowl in style with drink specials and prime game-watching at the coolest bar in town. In addition to the ice bar, guests are invited to visit the Minus5 Lodge Bar for unbeatable access to on-air games. Featuring 10 state-of-the-art high-definition televisions, including a 72-inch LED and a super-sized projector screen, guests can enjoy prime viewing from any seat in the house.

For the best in all-you-can-eat buffets with open bars, you can indulge in buffalo wings, chili garlic wings, sliders, pulled-pork sliders, crab cakes, crunchy potatoes, a fry trio, assorted flatbreads and build-your-own nachos and hot dog stations at The Pub at Monte Carlo. The Sporting House Bar & Grill buffet in New York City includes hot dogs and bratwurst with all the fixings, baked beans and riblets, chili and corn bread, buffalo wings and chicken tenders with dipping sauces, caesar and house salads, crudites and build-your-own nachos and baked potato stations. Look to the Luxor for Public House's game day buffet, featuring jalapeno poppers, battered artichokes, kettle chips with dip, burger sliders, sausage and peppers, chicken wings and home-style mac 'n' cheese.

In New York, inspired by their favorite dive bars and honky-tonks, chef Dale Talde and partners John Bush and David Massoni opened Pork Slope -- a casual Brooklyn roadhouse where the spirit is one of no pretension and good, down-home hospitality. The restaurant features a wide selection of mostly American whiskeys, bourbon and rye, a rotating cast of beers from the bar's 25 taps, more than 20 ice-cold canned beers and three wines. The focus might be pork, but the menu also includes such favorites as fried chicken, chili con carne, shrimp po' boys and griddled burgers. "Pork Slope is the perfect place to watch the game ... with three TVs, a billiard table and an awesome crowd," Talde says "We've got the real-deal football food."

On the West Coast, Stella Rossa Pizza Bar in Santa Monica, Calif., plans to offer $10 beer pitchers, chef Jeff Mahin's wood-grilled corn on the cob with parmesan cheese creme, fresno chili arancini sticks with charred tomato sauce, a seven-layer dip (with white bean and chickpea puree, Calabrian chilies, diced avocado, tomato, organic sausage, crispy onions and creme fraiche), organic pork meatballs stewed in rich tomato sauce, smoked and grilled buffalo wings, house-made Thai buffalo sauce and pulled pork pizza, in addition to its regular menu.

This past fall, San Diego's Downtown Gaslamp Quarter welcomed The Commons. Drawing inspiration from America's iconic traditional watering holes, The Commons has developed a cult following of Patriots and non-Patriots fans. Leigh Gibson and kitchen manager Adam Jacoby designed a menu that serves hearty salads, award-winning chicken wings and sauces, creative sandwiches and wraps, as well as a wide selection of local craft beers and innovative cocktails.
