) today announced that The University of Information Technology (UIT), a member of Vietnam
, has installed a new Smarter Computing solution based on IBM PureSystems. In a separate agreement also being signed today, IBM and UIT disclosed their intent to further work together in the emerging fields of IT education in
UIT will use the system to build a cloud platform which will host university's virtual campus. New training courses, online applications, and other services will be developed and tested in this cloud environment. In addition, IBM PureSystems will support selected scientific projects across the fields of IT systems, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, and network communications.

IBM provided UIT with a solution consisting of IBM PureFlex System, IBM Tivoli Service Delivery Manager and IBM Workload Deployer - a hardware appliance that enables access to IBM middleware virtual images and patterns to easily, quickly and repeatedly create application environments that can be securely deployed and managed in a private cloud. This Smarter Computing IT infrastructure helps UIT provide cloud-based applications to support virtual education services to the students and university staff. The new system will also free up UIT's internal IT resources and enhance student experience.
