Fast Food Is Not 'fat Food' At Fordham University

NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For 10,000 students who dine on campus at Fordham University, fast food need not be 'fat food' thanks to a new partnership between dining services provider Sodexo and New York-based Energy Kitchen.

Energy Kitchen's retail location at Fordham's Lincoln Center features menu items which are grilled, baked or steamed, always less than 500 calories and made fresh to order.

"Students today are more conscious about what they put in their body and know the importance of eating healthier. College campuses are a natural progression for Energy Kitchen because students are requesting these healthier food options" said Energy Kitchen Chairman Mike Repole, a co-founder of Glaceau Vitaminwater. "We at Energy Kitchen want to bring our version of healthier, great tasting food to students at every college in America. Fordham is the perfect next step in that evolution. Students requested healthier options and Energy Kitchen worked with the administration to make it happen."

Fordham students visiting Energy Kitchen are enjoying options such as turkey burgers and 90% lean sirloin burgers, as well as chicken fajita wraps. Sides include baked sweet potato fries, or black bean and mango salad.

"I'm excited to have Energy Kitchen at Fordham because it provides students with even more freshly prepared food options," said Alexa Rodriguez, President, United Student Government, Fordham at Lincoln Center. "As a student with multiple responsibilities, I don't always have time to prepare my lunch everyday so I am looking forward to having additional healthy alternatives on campus."

Energy Kitchen currently operates restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC and Florida with plans to expand its locations on college campuses in the coming months.
