NSBA Seeking Involved Small-Business Owners For Award

WASHINGTON, Jan. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Small Business Association is currently seeking active and involved small-business owners for the 2013 Lewis A. Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award. The award honors small-business owners who go above and beyond in advocating for the small-business community.

Any small-business owner with fewer than 500 employees is eligible for the award. NSBA will choose five finalists and one award winner to recognize in March in conjunction with the Washington Presentation, March 18 and 19.

" Lew Shattuck was one of my personal mentors and he showed me the way in effective advocacy.  The Lew Shattuck Award is an honor for any business owner to receive," stated Grafton "Cap" Willey, a Managing Director of CBIZ Tofias in Providence, Rhode Island. "Winning this award in 2011 not only recognized my commitment to small-business advocacy, it was a wonderful way to tell my customers and potential customers that I—and my firm—care about our community and America's small businesses."

Qualifications for the award include: a demonstrated commitment to small-business advocacy above and beyond policies that specifically impact their own business or industry; a proven history of volunteer efforts to advance and improve the overall small-business community; success in advocating for pro-small business policies; and success and growth as a small-business owner.

Nomination packets are due Feb. 8, 2013.

Celebrating more than 75 years in operation, NSBA is a staunchly nonpartisan organization advocating on behalf of America's entrepreneurs. NSBA's 65,000 members represent every state and every industry in the U.S., and we are proud to be the nation's first small-business advocacy organization. Please visit www.nsba.biz.
