Care Homes Essex - Showing The Carers That We Care

Carers' Rights Day came under the spotlight in Care UK's Halstead's care home - Colne View, ( http://www.careuk.com/colne-view) with an event designed to help and pamper those who provide care and support for their loved ones.
The day was open to carers from the local community in Essex, as well as the friends and relatives of residents at Colne View and the people who care for guests attending Maplestead Day Club, Care UK's respite day care centre.
Colne View is a recent addition to Care UK's network of leading Care Homes in Essex. Customer Relations Manager Rosemary Waller said: "It was a great day. We were joined by lots of carers and we were able to pamper them with aromatherapy and reflexology as well as giving them lunch where they could sit and talk to other carers and members of our team to get ideas and swap experiences.
"When you care for an older person, especially if they have dementia, you have a unique set of challenges. It is really helpful to talk to other people who have had the same type of experiences and share ideas and realise you are not alone." Colne View is leading the way for dementia care in Essex with state-of-the-art care facilities. There was also information and support on hand from financial advisors, Age UK, MacMillan, Action for Family Carers and the Alzheimer's Society. Rosemary said: "It was a very uplifting day. We were joined for a session of Zumba Gold by some of the residents and service users and the Alzheimer's Society team organised a session of Singing for the Brain which everyone joined in and enjoyed.
