Karen Hutcheson joins Mercer’s Talent consulting business effective immediately. In this new role as Partner, Ms. Hutcheson will have responsibility for further strengthening Mercer’s Talent consulting with colleges and universities. She is based in New York and will collaborate with Mercer colleagues throughout the US to serve the sector.
Ms. Hutcheson brings more than 20 years of human capital leadership experience in compensation, performance management and human resources consulting, and has specialized in working with higher education and other not-for-profit organizations for the last 15 years. She has expertise in the areas of faculty, administrative and staff compensation, pay equity, performance management, competency and role profile development.

Ms. Hutcheson rejoins Mercer, having previously been a Principal in the firm’s Boston office. Her experience includes positions with Sibson Consulting, KPMG and American Express. Most recently, Ms. Hutcheson was a Senior Vice President with Sibson, where she led the firm’s compensation and performance management consulting services and was a member of its national higher education leadership team. She was responsible for building higher education consultant capability and developing the firm’s intellectual capital in this area.Ms. Hutcheson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University. She was a member of NACUBO’s National Advisory Panel for its quarterly publication, HR Horizons, and a regular contributor of articles for the publication.
