Boingo Wireless Inc Stock Upgraded (WIFI)

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Boingo Wireless (Nasdaq:WIFI) has been upgraded by TheStreet Ratings from sell to hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and impressive record of earnings per share growth. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including a generally disappointing performance in the stock itself and weak operating cash flow.

Highlights from the ratings report include:

• WIFI's revenue growth has slightly outpaced the industry average of 4.5%. Since the same quarter one year prior, revenues slightly increased by 5.4%. This growth in revenue appears to have trickled down to the company's bottom line, improving the earnings per share.
• WIFI's debt-to-equity ratio is very low at 0.00 and is currently below that of the industry average, implying that there has been very successful management of debt levels. Along with this, the company maintains a quick ratio of 3.14, which clearly demonstrates the ability to cover short-term cash needs.
• In comparison to the other companies in the Wireless Telecommunication Services industry and the overall market, BOINGO WIRELESS INC's return on equity is significantly below that of the industry average and is below that of the S&P 500.
• Net operating cash flow has significantly decreased to $3.91 million or 61.19% when compared to the same quarter last year. In addition, when comparing the cash generation rate to the industry average, the firm's growth is significantly lower.
• WIFI has underperformed the S&P 500 Index, declining 5.11% from its price level of one year ago. Looking ahead, we do not see anything in this company's numbers that would change the one-year trend. It was down over the last twelve months; and it could be down again in the next twelve. Naturally, a bull or bear market could sway the movement of this stock.

Boingo Wireless, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides mobile Wi-Fi Internet solutions. The company has a P/E ratio of 36.2, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Boingo Wireless has a market cap of $280.3 million and is part of the technology sector and computer software & services industry. Shares are up 5.6% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.
