Thursday, January 17 at the Opening Plenary Luncheon of the 81
st Winter Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Capitol Hilton Hotel.
More than 270 of the nation's mayors will convene in
Washington, D.C. in the midst the Presidential Inaugural to meet with Congressional leaders and Administration officials to push for a balanced approach to deficit reduction and sequestration cuts, as well as measures to spur jobs and economic growth in America's cities and metropolitan areas that are still plagued with high unemployment. Other issues topping the agenda are gun control and school safety, Hurricane Sandy response, immigration, and the threat to tax exempt municipal bonds.
