Boyd Named Chairman Of The NHP Foundation

NEW YORK, Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The NHP Foundation (NHPF) is pleased to announce that Ralph F. Boyd has been elected Chairman of The NHPF Board of Trustees. Prior to being elected Chairman, Boyd has served NHPF since 2005, as a Trustee, Audit Committee Chair and as a member of its Investment Committee.

"It's clear that Ralph is the ideal choice to lead the NHP Foundation into the future," said NHPF Chief Executive Officer Richard F. Burns. "Having worked with Ralph for the past 3 years, I am heartened by his commitment to developing, rehabilitating, and acquiring housing our residents can take pride in."

From February 2005 through March 2012, Mr. Boyd served as the Executive Vice President of Community Relations at the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and President and CEO of the Freddie Mac Foundation. Mr. Boyd joined Freddie Mac in 2004 as its General Counsel.

Prior to his leadership at Freddie Mac, Mr. Boyd was a Senior Litigation Partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Alston & Bird, LLP, an Assistant Attorney General of the United States for Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Justice and a Litigation and Trial Partner with the Boston law firm of Goodwin Procter LLP. Mr. Boyd also worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Boston U.S. Attorney's Office and the U.S. Member of the Geneva-based Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, a United Nations Treaty body.

"Ralph is a strong and exemplary leader," said NHPF's immediate past Chairman Thomas A. Carr. "He has been a tireless partner to many in the affordable housing and community development field. With his guidance, NHPF's future is very bright."

Headquartered in New York City with offices in Washington, DC, NHPF was launched on January 30, 1989. NHPF is a publicly supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded to preserve and create affordable multifamily rental housing for low- and moderate-income families and seniors. In addition to providing safe, clean and affordable housing to its residents, NHPF has a robust resident services program known as Operation Pathways. Through partnerships with major financial institutions, the public sector, faith-based initiatives, and other nonprofit organizations, NHPF owns 22 residential properties with more than 4,300 housing units in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
