"We are pleased to see our commitment to the economic development of this region recognized through this prominent award," said Eric Elliott, president and CEO of Prime. "We are proud of the 122 professionals currently employed at Prime Specialty Pharmacy who are dedicated to providing our members easier access to more affordable medicines so they can feel better and live well."
The Governor's Innovators in Business Awards recognize outstanding contributions toward improving and diversifying Florida's economy plus distinctive community investment efforts, particularly relating to industries targeted for economic development and high wage job growth.
"My number one mission is to grow jobs for Florida families, and the successes these companies have experienced represent the job opportunities being created in Florida," said Governor Rick Scott.
Prime Specialty Pharmacy is expanding the company's ability to manage specialty medicine functions and is projected to create 213 new jobs for the region over the next three years. Medications managed and delivered by the specialty pharmacy are often used to treat complex and chronic conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hepatitis C and cancer. The facility has been operating since early August with specialty pharmacy order processing, care management, fulfillment, billing and customer service.
